One of the highlights of my job is getting to go on Make a Wish events to document children’s wishes. Ashley’s wish was to become a real chef for a day, in a real professional kitchen, to cook her favorite foods for her family. Before she arrived with her siblings in the limo, her father told me that she could make the best homemade biscuits, which as a 9 year old, is quite a feat. And I think she really did have a perfect day. Her family was able to watch her prepare their glazed pork chops, broccoli and cheese (her absolute favorite) and rice pilaf for dinner… and molten chocolate cakes with homeade ice cream for desert! Make a Wish, thanks for being so wonderful and Ashley, thanks for inviting me along for Chef Day!

Jenny and Ben choose to do their engagement portraits in Downtown Athens. They are such a cool couple to get to work with… we had a really good time during our shoot. We started off in North Campus and worked our way downtown into the sunset… these portraits were made a few months ago in the beautiful fall, but there are just too many good sessions keep up with on this blog!! I’m very excited about their wedding in May at Brasstown Valley. Next week, we will be showing Chef Ashley’s Make a Wish and after that will be the Romancing the Bride Collections!

Jeanette and Mike live in DC, but they will be wed here in Atlanta. Faith and I met for their session near Park Tavern and within 5 minutes after we started shooting, it began to hail. Yes, hail. They had come in from out of town, so rescheduling was not an option. And we decided to tough it… we quickly found ourselves relocating to the highlands where we could seek shelter when necessary. The playful and fun portraits that we made from their session are just so whimsical… I really love these portraits!! We really ended up with some beautiful images.

Lenox park is a really fun place to shoot portraits. There are all of these cute things around…a red phone booth, a beautiful lake, and several different textures for bridges.
I met with the Roman family a while back to create a multi-functional portrait session. They needed: portraits of just the two of them and also family portraits. We made a beautiful guest book for their couple portraits, but I wanted to use these ADORABLE family portraits on the blog. Smiles to share! Spread the love.

This fall family portrait session was playful and super casual. We caught the leaves when they really were just right… and were able to bring so much of that gorgeous fall texture into these images. The kids were awesome to be around and learn from. They took me on little hikes off the trails and we tossed leaves into the air. It is such a pleasure and blessing to be not only surrounded by so much love, but to be able to help their family keep these exchanges. Although they feel like such intimate small moments, they become such treasures that tell a whole story about their family experience.

After a portrait session just north of the mountains, I took a slow drive home, the long way.
I had my cameras in hand and a few minutes stolen from a busy workweek, but I pulled my car off the road and stopped when I saw the things I normally would have driven by. I am taking a break to edit them and to share them.

Leslie and Brad and I had a sort of difficult time getting our session together… the first time we met to shot, it was at the 17th street bridge. Around 5 minutes after we started shooting, the storm clouds started to come in… we got around 20 minutes of portrait taking time in before we all made a complete run for it. We decided to try again another day.
Luckily, our next session was in perfect weather… but we changed our location this time, to the ever very picturesque Virginia Highlands. We really had a fun time shooting and Leslie and Brad were very brave with my portrait suggestions.
Here is the email Leslie sent us after she received all of her engagement portraits:
“WOW! We could not be more excited about our engagement pictures. And to think we were going to skip them all together… They really turned out great. Above and beyond our expectations. After the session, Brad was saying he could not believe we laid on the ground… but those are some of my favorite pictures!
Within a few minutes of sending them out to friends and family everyone was writing and calling back to say how much they enjoyed them. Jessica is a wonderful photographer. I can’t wait to see the amazing pictures she will take at our wedding!”

Since the day I met them, I completely fell in love with these two adorable lovebirds. They are fun, fun and fit together like two peas in a pod. Their wedding pictures here chronicle a day that was emotional, loving and just so filled with details that are all about them… they had dancing shoes and delicious Kourambiethes … homemade traditional cookies. Their guest bid their adieus with themed pom-poms (his and hers for their colleges!) and they even put cuddly blankets at the tables outside for chilly guests. I had such an incredible time exploring their wedding day with my camera!
